■ RELATIONSHIPS: Here's the thing about dwarves: the men outnumber the women in a way that other races speculate there are no females. Few of them get married, let alone have children, because many dwarf men prefer their crafts, and the dwarf women will not settle for any other if they cannot be with the one they really want. Overall, dwarves do not seem to have much romance in them, or feel like pairing up and doing the biblical hokey-pokey on a whim. And considering Thorin's personality and how wrapped up he is in his quest (also the fact that he dies without a consort or children of his own), he does not appear to be an exception to this rule. Though I wouldn't say it's impossible. But it could never be spontaneous: any kind of romantic CR would take a lot of development, loyalty and trust-building. And bear in mind that when a dwarf does catch feelings for someone, it's nothing short of intense. They love hard, and they only love once.
